About The Competition

Bahamas Poetry Competition is a multi divisional poetry competition of which a topic will be assigned to the competitor group.

Competitors are invited to use any style of poetry.
Criteria for entry and judging criteria will be noted on the invitation.
All applications must be submitted online.
All entries will be screened for plagiarism.
Judging will be conducted by literary professionals and educators.

The top ten finalists will be chosen based on writing proficiency. However, the top three will be chosen from the top ten based on performance. The top ten finalists will be required to submit short videos of them performing their poems in order to determine the winners. An award ceremony will be arranged to honor competitors that make it to the top ten. The top 10 in each Division will receive trophies and certificates. The prizes for the Adults Category will be $500.00 for first place, $400.00 for second place, and $300.00 for 3rd place. All Divisional Champions will receive a Golden Blazer known as the Golden Standard.

DISCLAIMER:  All persons who enter this competition by submission agree that the work submitted belongs solely to the entrant and is in no part the work of any other individual.  However, should any plagiarism be discovered the entrant will be disqualified. The facilitators of this competition and Bahamas Poetry Competition will accept no liability due to fraudulent activities or misrepresentations made by entrants. Persons under 18 are not able to enter the contest without the consent of the guardian noted on the application.  All entries that are submitted are done with the implication that an adult consented to the application.  Additionally, by participating in the competition, the entrants grant Bahamas Poetry Competition the use of their poems, images, and recording in perpetuity for the promotion of the competition through traditional and non-traditional media, including but not limited to radio, newspaper, television and online media.
